Frontier School Division
Engaged Learners

The Engaged Learners Program is a second chance for students 15 to 21 years of age who have dropped out of high school and is a stepping stone to continuing their studies in trades and/or to complete high school. The program, located at a camp on the shores of First Cranberry Lake, is open to all Frontier students.

Students participate in 6-to-10 day sessions throughout the school year where coursework focuses on building skills for employment and upgrading math and English competency. Additionally, they have the opportunity to select from a variety of trade-related programming including:

  • Carpentry
  • Culinary arts
  • Hair-dressing
  • Power mechanics
  • Welding
The Engaged Learners Program includes Elder visits, Indigenous cultural workshops and activities, and counsellor support.
